Body Intelligence
Body Intelligence™ is the ability to sense, interpret, and respond to the signals of our bodies.
It is a form of internal literacy—learning to understand what is happening inside us so we can regulate our nervous systems, adapt to stress, and perform with awareness rather than force.
When individuals develop Body Intelligence, they build the capacity for true resilience, longevity, and sustainable performance, even in the face of fatigue, pressure, or resistance from the body or the environment.
The Body Intelligence Method develops four essential capacities: Regulate, Engage, Perform, and Sustain (REPS).
Regulate
Regulation creates safety.
It is the foundation for learning, adaptation, and performance.
Regulation is the ability to shift the nervous system from survival mode into readiness, allowing the body to think clearly, recover effectively, and respond with intention.
Engage
If regulation creates safety, engagement creates connection.
Engage means staying present inside the body and learning to notice its signals—energy, fatigue, emotions, and hormonal cycles—so the body becomes something we work with rather than push against.
Perform
Performance is where body awareness becomes applied power.
It is the ability to show up under pressure with clarity, focus, and resilience, translating internal awareness into confident action.
Sustain
If performance is about showing up under pressure, sustaining is about staying in relationship with the body over time.
Long-term performance depends on the systems around us—coaches, partners, sleep, nutrition, recovery practices, and environments that support healthy sport.
Body Intelligence empowers individuals to navigate challenges with awareness, adapt to pressure, and perform with strength and intention.
“Okay, so you probably hear stories like this all the time, but I thought this was really cool. My daughter* just got home from her cycling club, and she said excitedly Mom, there was a girl named Kristen there, and she was talking to us about our periods, and gave our coach Joni products! Thanks for doing so much to make it totally cool and acceptable for my 11-year-old to talk about periods and period products — in a group setting and with a relative stranger, no less! - and feel totally comfortable about it.”
